Home Team ITE Sponsorship

The Home Team ITE Sponsorship is for outstanding Higher NITEC students who demonstrate the drive and resilience to take on the challenge of keeping Singapore safe and secure. If you have what it takes, we'd like to sponsor your education in the ITE.

You'll receive financial incentives during your Higher NITEC studies. Upon graduation, you'll serve with the Home Team department of your choice. Embark on a fulfilling and rewarding career, with opportunities to gain new skills and upgrade your academic qualifications.

Value of Award

Tuition fees and other approved fees

Monthly allowance of $750 or a total of $9,000 a year

Note: If you apply in Higher NITEC Year 2, there will be no back-payment for the first year of studies.

Eligibility

You will need to:

  • Be an existing student studying Higher NITEC Programmes at local ITEs
  • Be a Singapore Citizen
  • Have Good Higher NITEC results
  • Be medically and physically fit, with at least a ‘pass’ in NAPFA
  • Be interested in meaningful non-desk bound work and enjoy working with people

All Home Team sponsorships are open to male and female applicants.

Combined Bond Period for ITE and Diploma Sponsorships

If you qualify for a place in a local polytechnic and receive the Home Team Diploma Sponsorship, the total length of bond will be capped at either 5 or 6 years, depending on your ITE Sponsorship bond.

With a 3-year Home Team ITE Sponsorship bond:

For Males Serving National Service

If you have not served National Service (NS), your NS obligations depend on which Home Team department you choose to join.

If you joinYour NS obligations

  • Singapore Police Force (SPF)

  • Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF)

You will be placed under the Minimum Term of Engagement Scheme (MTE) of 5 years

  • Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB)

  • Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)

  • Singapore Prison Service (SPS)

You will complete your NS first, and then start the 4-year bond with the selected Home Team department

 

What is the Minimum Term of Engagement Scheme (MTE)?

Under the MTE scheme, you will serve as a regular officer and receive regular pay. At the end of the 5-year MTE period, you would have fulfilled your NS obligations and the Home Team Diploma Sponsorship bond.
