Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Number of Scam Victims Who Recovered All or Part of Their Losses in the Past Two Years

Question: 

Ms Mariam Jaafar: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs (a) in the past two years, how many victims of scams have been able to recover all or part of their losses from successful law enforcement operations or compensation from banks and other entities; and (b) how much has been recovered. 


Answer: 

Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law: 

1. Between 2022 and June 2024, the Singapore Police Force recovered about $300 million in scam losses through its investigation and enforcement efforts. 

2. We do not track the number of victims who have been able to recover their losses, whether from law enforcement operations or compensation from banks and other entities.
