1. Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, called on Ms Priti Patel, UK Secretary of State for the Home Department on Tuesday, 21 January 2020.
2. During the meeting, Minister Shanmugam and Secretary Patel reaffirmed the good working relationship between MHA and the UK Home Office, and exchanged views on the security concerns faced by both countries. They agreed to explore further cooperation, collaboration and the exchange of best practices on security issues, including border security, policing, counter terrorism, and the application of science and technology to security issues.
3. These areas fall under the ambit of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MHA and the UK Home Office, signed on 31 August 2018 by Minister Shanmugam and then Home Secretary Sajid Javid.
