1. Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam is in the Philippines for a working visit from Tuesday, 25 to Thursday, 27 July 2017.
2. Besides renewing relations between the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and its Philippines counterparts, Minister Shanmugam hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the security situation in the Philippines and identify other areas of bilateral cooperation between MHA and its Philippines counterparts.
3. As part of his visit, Minister Shanmugam met Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr, and Secretary of the Interior and Local Government-designate General Eduardo Ano.
4. During their meetings this morning, Minister Shanmugam exchanged ideas and best practices with Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana and Secretary of the Interior and Local Government-designate General Eduardo Ano on counter radicalisation and religious rehabilitation, and invited them to send their officers to Singapore so that we can share more about our current approach.
