1. Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State (MOS), Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development, attended the “No Money for Terror” Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing from 18 to 19 November 2022 in New Delhi, India. She was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Commercial Affairs Department of the Singapore Police Force, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. Representatives from eighty-five countries attended the conference and discussed global trends in terrorism and terrorism financing, including the use of emerging technologies such as virtual assets and crowdfunding platforms. International organisations such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund were also present at the conference. The active participation of these countries and organisations underscores the global commitment to the fight against terrorism and terrorism financing.
3. At the conference, MOS Sun highlighted Singapore’s comprehensive approach to combat terrorism financing and the successful prosecution of 13 individuals for terrorism financing offences since 2016. She also reiterated the importance of international cooperation to address challenges in combating terrorism financing.
4. During her visit, MOS Sun met with India’s Minister of Women & Child Development Smriti Irani, and Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi. They reaffirmed the warm ties between Singapore and India. MOS Sun also met with Indonesia’s Head of National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Commissioner General of Police, Dr Drs Boy Rafli Amar MH, Maldives’ Minister of Home Affairs His Excellency Imran Abdulla, and New Zealand’s High Commissioner to India and Bangladesh David Pine on the side-line of the Conference.
