The Singapore Police Force Scholarship and Home Team Scholarship Award Ceremony 2019

  1. The Singapore Police Force Scholarship (SPFS) and Home Team Scholarship Award Ceremony 2019 was held on Monday, 5 August 2019 at the Istana. Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam was the Guest-of-Honour.

The Home Team Scholarships are awarded annually to students who have excelled in their studies and co-curricular activities, displayed outstanding leadership qualities and have a keen interest to pursue a career with the Home Team. They will pursue their studies in a range of disciplines at local and overseas universities. MHA awarded a total of 23 scholarships this year.

     

  3. The SPFS is one of the most prestigious scholarships awarded by the Public Service Commission. This year, the SPFS was awarded to Ms Shermaine Ang, Mr Justin Quek Zheng Jun, Mr Warren Liow Wei Rui and Mr Yiik Chia. They will undergo training at the SPF Training Command upon completion of their studies.

     

  4. This year, MHA introduced a new category of scholarships – the MHA Merit Scholarship (MMS). The MMS was awarded to candidates who are passionate to contribute to Singapore’s safety and security in civilian appointments. They will have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of professions in the Home Team that are aligned with their interest and aspirations. Upon graduation, they can choose a general career track or a specialist track in Psychology, Intelligence, Commercial Affairs, Science or Engineering.
