1. The Singapore Police Force Scholarship (SPFS) and Home Team Scholarship Award Ceremony 2020 was held via video conference on Thursday, 20 August 2020. Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam was the Guest-of-Honour, and delivered an address to recipients and their families.
2. Collectively, the Home Team Scholarships comprise both uniformed and civilian scholarships, including the Singapore Police Force Scholarship (SPFS), Singapore Merit Scholarship (SMS), Singapore Government Scholarship (SGS), Local Merit Scholarship (LMS) and Home Team Local Study Awards (HTLSA). These scholarships are awarded annually to students who excelled in their studies and co-curricular activities, displayed outstanding leadership qualities and have a keen interest to embark on a career with the Home Team. They will pursue their studies in a range of disciplines at local and overseas universities. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) awarded a total of 14 scholarships this year.
3. The SPFS is one of the most prestigious scholarships awarded by the Public Service Commission. This year, the SPFS was awarded to Ms Sundaram Mohan Shakthi and Mr Sim Zheng Hao. They will undergo training at the SPF Training Command upon completion of their studies. Subsequently, they will be posted to the Police divisions to assume investigation and command appointments.
4. More information on the various categories of Home Team scholarships and the list of scholarship recipients for 2020 can be found in the enclosed Annex. The new scholarship application cycle for 2021 is currently open until 15 March 2021.
