How did your father inspire you to join the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB)?
When I was younger, my father often shared that his work in CNB was about ‘drugs’ and ‘keeping drugs and drug abusers off the streets’. Naturally, he could not go into the details of his work. This intrigued me and sparked my curiosity and interest in joining CNB.

My father had no idea that I applied to CNB because I wanted to secure the position on my own merits. After he found out, he was pleasantly surprised and happy that I chose to follow in his footsteps.

Today, I am proud to be part of this organisation.

How is your day-to-day like as an Intelligence Officer?
My duties involve a variety of tasks that require me to be both indoors and outdoors. I am constantly on the move, handling various responsibilities. That keeps the job exciting and engaging.

How do you view your job?
I have been with the Home Team for 17 years. My commitment and interest in my job have remained unwavering since day one. The fire to fight for a drug-free Singapore continues to burn brightly within me.

This mission is something I deeply believe in for future generations, and it keeps me motivated every day.

Has there been a time where you felt like giving up, but you got inspiration from your father and picked yourself up?
There have been moments of doubt and challenge in my career, but my father’s wisdom and support have always guided me through. He taught me to stay away from trouble and to avoid bad company, emphasising that if I put my mind to something, I can achieve it.

His belief in me and his words of encouragement have been a constant source of motivation.

Can you share a memorable experience related to your father's work?

As a kid, I remember my father worked long and irregular hours. However, despite his demanding schedule, he would always make time for important family events, as long as it did not negatively affect his work. I sometimes wondered what exactly my father was doing.

When I joined CNB, the dots all connected. He was demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his job while also balancing commitment to family.

"My dad is the reason I am where I am today. His guidance and support have been instrumental in my journey. I owe my achievements to his motivation and the values he instilled in me." – Station Inspector Mohd Jashim Mukhtiar Khan
