1. The President of the Republic of Singapore has conferred the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Meritorious Service Medal) on Dato Paduka Hamdan Bin Abu Bakar, Director, Brunei Internal Security Department (BISD). Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam presented the award to Dato Paduka Hamdan at the Ministry of Home Affairs today.
2. Under Dato Paduka Hamdan's leadership, the relationship between BISD and the Internal Security Department (ISD) in Singapore has grown closer over the years, with several joint initiatives and substantive exchanges of intelligence, particularly in counter-terrorism.
3. The award is a recognition of Dato Paduka Hamdan's outstanding leadership and commitment in developing the ties between BISD and ISD, and his significant contributions to the security of Brunei, Singapore and the region.
4. The investiture ceremony today was attended by officials from BISD and officers from the Home Team.
